Major blackout in La Plata due to fire at Tolosa substation

A fire broke out at 3:00 AM in an electrical substation located on Calle 9 between 527 and 528 in Tolosa, causing a significant blackout in La Plata and surrounding areas such as Gonnet.

At least four fire crews worked on-site and managed to control the flames, according to reports from the company Edelap. However, it is estimated that approximately 30,000 households remain without electric service due to the incident.

Authorities are investigating the causes of the fire and assessing whether there were failures that could have been avoided, as well as potential responsibilities regarding the situation.
