Marrit Steenbergen advances to semifinals at European Swimming Championships

Marrit Steenbergen qualified on Wednesday for the semifinals of both the 200 meters freestyle and the 50 meters backstroke during the European Swimming Championships in Paris. According to NOS, Steenbergen was impressive in the heats, recording a time of 1:58.00 in the 200 meters freestyle, which earned her the fourth-fastest time in the heats.

Imani de Jong also qualified for the semifinals of the 200 meters freestyle, finishing thirteenth with a time of 1:58.92. Nynke Boerefijn could only manage a 35th place with a time of 2:02.58, and Femke Spiering withdrew from the heats.

Steenbergen's performances come one day after her gold medal in the 100 meters, where she also captured her first European title. The event in Paris has drawn an interested public, with attention focusing on the ongoing performances of the Dutch swimmers.
