Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced the convening of a technical meeting at Palazzo Chigi within the first days of September, focused on the former Ilva and the development of the city of Taranto. This meeting aims to address the production of steel, which is considered of national importance.
President Sergio Mattarella emphasized the significance of national commitment to ensure employment and health in Taranto, issuing a message ahead of the inauguration of the Mediterranean Games. During the discussions, two meetings are planned: one to assess expressions of interest and the other to review investments.
Meloni sought to reassure unions regarding the precarious conditions of the city, highlighting the need to tackle the dramatic issues Taranto has faced in the past. This commitment is set within a context of transformation and future development for the local community.
