Minister may revoke recognition of Ongehoord Nederland following Hitler video
Minister Rianne Letschert of Education, Culture and Science may revoke the recognition of Ongehoord Nederland after recent controversies involving the broadcaster.

The Media Authority has informed Minister Rianne Letschert (D66) in a letter that she can revoke the recognition of broadcaster Ongehoord Nederland (ON). This decision comes in response to a recent scandal involving the broadcaster.
In an online broadcast at the end of July 2023, former editor-in-chief Joost Niemöller and the face of the broadcaster Raisa Blommestijn faced backlash for their understanding of statements made by Adolf Hitler. During this broadcast, a clip was shown in which Hitler spoke about the so-called dangers of globalism.
The regulator details the situation and states that the minister has facts and considerations relevant to the revocation of the broadcaster's license. The Media Authority sees this issue as an important point in the evaluation of the broadcaster.

The uproar surrounding Ongehoord Nederland is not new; the broadcaster has faced criticism in the past. However, the recent remarks by prominent figures within the organization have led to a renewed evaluation of their status.
It is still unclear what steps the minister will take and how this process will develop further. The issue has already sparked public discussions about the content and policies of the broadcaster.
This situation has also raised questions regarding the responsibilities of public broadcasters and the limits of freedom of expression in the Netherlands.
