Montse Mínguez has resigned from her position as spokesperson for the PSOE and has also stepped down from her role in the party's Executive. This decision comes amid controversy surrounding her partner's real estate dealings, including a business that owns over 30 properties and has come under public scrutiny due to several evictions.

Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government and leader of the PSOE, has expressed his regret over Mínguez's resignation, stating that she is a good person and he had advised her not to step down. According to Sánchez, the socialist community feels 'broken' by the harsh political pressure Mínguez has faced, whom he noted has described the media coverage as a personal and political attack, insisting that she has nothing to hide.

Mínguez's departure has elicited reactions within the PSOE. While the party has respected her decision, it has also thanked her for her dedication and commitment. Her resignation comes at a time when the party needs to regain voter trust, given its current electoral strategy focused on housing.

As a direct consequence of her departure, the PSOE's Executive has appointed Rebeca Torró as the new spokesperson for the party. Torró, who is also the Secretary of Organization, will assume the communication leadership of the PSOE, filling the position left vacant by Mínguez amid a tense atmosphere ahead of the general elections on November 29.

The decision to change the spokesperson comes at a critical moment for the PSOE, as the Federal Committee, which was set to validate the electoral lists, was not expected to be a particularly significant event. However, Mínguez's departure has accelerated this change.

The Executive has also decided that Mínguez will not be part of the electoral lists for the upcoming elections. This context underscores the importance of housing on the party's agenda as the PSOE faces a challenging moment in its political discourse and public perception.
