The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has urged students in Nagaland to refrain from participating in Independence Day events due to objections over the mandatory singing of 'Vande Mataram'. The federation criticized the Ministry of Home Affairs' recent communication outlining a protocol for the observance of the national song at official functions, which they found problematic.

In addition, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council has also opposed the move to make the singing of 'Vande Mataram' compulsory. They emphasized that patriotism should stem from a genuine love for the country rather than through enforced actions. Both organizations highlight their concerns regarding the implications of such mandates.
