At noon, national coach Serge Pauwels revealed the Belgian selection for the World Cycling Championships in Montreal. The event will take place from September 20 to 27, 2023. The team leaders are Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert.

In addition to Evenepoel and Van Aert, the riders Tiesj Benoot, Quinten Hermans, Maxim Van Gils, Alec Segaert, Thibau Nys, and Gianni Vermeersch have been selected to strengthen the team. The choice of these riders was made without surprises, according to previous reports.

The selection comes after defending champion Tadej Pogacar withdrew from the championship. Various countries expect Belgium to play a leading role during the competition in Canada.

Coach Pauwels emphasized that collaboration and balance among the team leaders are essential for the success of the team. With this selection, he hopes to achieve a strong performance in Montreal.

Pauwels stated that the most important factor is that the riders get along well, which is crucial for achieving good results during the race.
