The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has acknowledged serious allegations concerning paid advertisements on Instagram that reportedly facilitated access to child sexual abuse material. A bench led by Priyank Kanoongo is overseeing the review of this matter.

In a related action, the NHRC has issued notices to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, requesting information regarding the advertisements in question. The commission aims to clarify the role these platforms may have played in the promotion of such material.

This investigation follows increasing concerns about the presence of harmful content on social media platforms, prompting the NHRC to take action in response to public outcry over child safety issues. Further developments in the inquiry are expected as the involved ministries respond to the NHRC's queries.
