Oil prices rise amid uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz

Oil prices have increased due to ongoing uncertainty regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as the political situation remains tense.

Oil prices rose on Monday, particularly due to uncertainty surrounding a potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. According to Südtirol News, North Sea Brent crude increased by 1.09 percent, reaching $84.46 (73.22 euros) per barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) also saw a rise of 0.78 percent to $78.79.

The current price fluctuations are set against the backdrop of a lack of agreement between the US and Iran. At the same time, political pressure is mounting due to the situation in Yemen, where seven people died following Houthi attacks on the port city of Mocha, reports DER STANDARD.

While an agreement with Oman over new shipping routes is reportedly imminent, the overall situation in the region remains tense, which could further impact oil prices. The uncertainty regarding geopolitical conditions will continue to influence the market, as reported by Die Presse.
