Opposition demands sanctions for Bignami after comments on Scalfaro
Minority parties send a letter to the Speaker of the Chamber contesting Bignami's statements.

Political opposition has called for sanctions against Galeazzo Bignami following his remarks about former President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro. In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Chamber, the group leaders of the center-left parties described Bignami's statements as "false" and damaging to the prestige of the institutions.
Bignami, in the chamber, claimed that Scalfaro "freed 300 mafiosi," provoking strong reactions. The minority group leaders emphasized the need for an investigation by the chamber’s questors. In response, Bignami stated that for him, such words represent "a badge of honor."
