Pakistan Prepares for Asian Games as Team Heads to Japan

Pakistan's national cricket teamis headed to Nagoya, Japan, for the Asian Games after completing a training camp in Karachi. The team is led by captain Sahibzada Farhan, who has expressed a willingness to continue in this role beyond the tournament, stating it would be a proud moment if given the opportunity.

Head coach Mike Hesson confirmed that the team is preparing for a potential clash against India in the competition. He noted that there is plenty of cricket to be played before any meeting could occur and stressed the importance of focusing on each match leading up to possible knockout stages.

According to reports, India and Pakistan's teams cannot meet in the semi-finals, as they are placed on opposite sides of the bracket. However, both teams could potentially face off in the gold-medal match or the bronze-medal playoff on October 3, should they progress through their respective early matches successfully.

Hesson mentioned that the team aims to apply pressure on India during their possible encounter, referencing their previous meetings in the Asia Cup where Pakistan faced losses.

Pakistan’s recent performances include three losses to India during the 2025 Asia Cup and another at the 2023 Twenty20 World Cup. Hesson acknowledged the need for Pakistan to enhance its standing in T20 cricket, particularly in relation to its rival.

As preparations continue, Hesson and Farhan are focused on building the team's strategy and performance, aiming for a strong showing at the Asian Games. The matches are anticipated to provide valuable experience and the potential for growth in international competition.
