The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced significant changes to its Test squad after a disappointing series against England, resulting in the release of seven players and the dismissal of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed. This decision comes after Pakistan's 194-run defeat at Lord's, which left the team trailing 2-0 in the three-match series.

The players who have been dropped include prominent names such as Mohammad Rizwan, Imamul Haq, and Salman Ali Agha. They were part of a squad that faced heavy losses, including an innings-and-103-run defeat in the opening Test at Headingley.

In addition to the players, Umar Gul has also been released from his coaching role. The PCB has made the decision to bring in new blood, with five uncapped players being introduced ahead of the upcoming third Test at Edgbaston.

Mike Hesson, who previously coached the white-ball teams, will step in to lead the Test squad alongside Ashley Noffke as the team prepares for their next match against England. Hesson's appointment is aimed at revitalizing the team's performance following a challenging series so far.

The shake-up in the squad reflects the PCB's urgency to address ongoing issues within the team, especially after failing to secure a win against England in the current series. The PCB's latest moves highlight its commitment to enhancing the team's competitiveness on the international stage.

As the Pakistan team gears up for the third Test, the focus will now be on the newly constituted squad and coaching staff to turn around their fortunes against the hosts.
