Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) has summoned the US charge d'affaires in Islamabad to deliver a 'strong demarche' in response to comments made by US Ambassador Sergio Gor during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The FO stated that Gor's remarks, which referred to Jammu and Kashmir as a 'part of India,' were 'factually incorrect,' prompting the protest.

The statement from the FO emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory that is awaiting a final resolution. Pakistan strongly condemned and categorically rejected Gor's characterization of the region.

Gor made the controversial remarks while speaking to reporters in Srinagar, emphasizing the importance of Jammu and Kashmir as part of India. This has led to heightened tensions between Islamabad and Washington over the sensitive issue.

In light of the remarks, the Foreign Office articulated Pakistan's long-standing position on the matter, reaffirming its stance regarding the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. This incident has reignited diplomatic tensions related to the issue of Kashmir.

The US embassy in New Delhi has not yet issued a response to Pakistan's demarche or the criticism surrounding Gor's statements. Diplomatic relations have continued to be strained in recent months, particularly in the context of Kashmir.

This diplomatic protest adds to the ongoing complexities surrounding US-Pakistan relations, particularly considering the sensitivity of the Kashmir issue, which has long been a point of contention between Pakistan and India.
