Malacañang has directed government offices in 15 areas to implement alternative work arrangements on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, due to continuous rain associated with the southwest monsoon. Schools are also adopting alternative learning setups for the day.

The areas affected by this order include the National Capital Region, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro, as reported by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Additionally, another order from Malacañang covers 18 areas on Wednesday, August 19, requiring similar arrangements. This directive is also a response to the ongoing impacts of the habagat rains.

Classes at all levels in public schools will continue through alternative learning modes unless specified otherwise by local chief executives. The shifts aim to ensure the safety of students and government employees amid the severe weather conditions.
