The Secretary-General of the Socialist Party, José Luís Carneiro, indicated the possibility of a third death at the Hospital de Portimão, stressing that this could involve a child and occurred due to a lack of response from health authorities. Carneiro stated he had been contacted about the situation.

According to Carneiro, the health minister has been absent regarding the issue of deaths in the Algarve region, particularly related to emergency services at the hospital.

The PS will request the presence of the health minister in Parliament to clarify what the government plans to do about the serious health needs in Portimão.

The summons to Parliament follows criticisms regarding the lack of medical assistance in the Algarve, where the PS has also sought clarifications from the Prime Minister about the situation.

Carneiro emphasized the urgency for a clear dialogue in the Legislature, addressing accountability and the measures to be implemented to prevent similar tragedies in the regional health system.

Finally, various media outlets have reported widespread dissatisfaction regarding the government's response to critical health needs in Portimão, thereby increasing pressure on the public health administration in the region.
