The housing protests in Porto began on October 10. Pedro Duarte, president of Porto's Municipal Council, stated he had established "very cordial" and "civically exemplary" contacts with the protesters, suggesting negotiations are progressing.

Acampada do Porto rejected these claims. A spokesperson for the movement confirmed that it maintains no contact with Pedro Duarte beyond the initial invitation received from the mayor, and accused the president of attempting to sow internal divisions within the collective.

According to the movement, Pedro Duarte seeks to "provoke some discord" by publicly discussing negotiations that, from Acampada's perspective, are not materialising. The spokesperson urged the mayor to speak directly with the movement "instead of looking for points of rupture".

Acampada do Porto is maintaining a demonstration scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. According to available information, a meeting between the two sides has not yet taken place.
