The Portuguese Air Force has signed a contract with the Portuguese company TEKEVER for the acquisition of the unmanned aerial system AR5. The delivery of the drones is scheduled for September of this year.

The AR5 drones will be used for maritime surveillance, security, and defense missions, as well as for monitoring Portugal's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). This acquisition aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Portuguese Air Force.

According to available information, the unmanned aerial systems will be operated directly by the branch of the Armed Forces.

Recently, TEKEVER gained attention when one of its drones, operating with Ukrainian forces, was intercepted by the Russian military. This incident highlighted the technological capabilities of the company.

The financial details of the contract between the Portuguese Air Force and TEKEVER have not been disclosed in official statements to date. The lack of information regarding costs has raised questions about the investment in new surveillance technologies.

The incorporation of the AR5 system is seen as a significant step towards improving the surveillance operations of the Air Force, although specific details on the implementation and use of the drones have yet to be publicly discussed.
