President calls for agreement between government and opposition on housing
The President of the Republic urged party collaboration to resolve the housing crisis, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the needs of students and workers.

During a visit to the government headquarters at Campus XXI, President António José Seguro called for an understanding between the government and the opposition to tackle the housing crisis. Seguro stressed the importance of a joint effort and requested "seriousness" and contributions from all parties involved to address what he regarded as one of today’s main concerns.
Seguro praised the initiatives already presented by both the government and various parties and reiterated that it is essential to transform existing contributions into practical solutions. His appeal was directed not only at the Executive but also at PSD and CDS-PP, challenging them to cooperate with the other opposition parties.
The focus of Seguro's intervention was particularly on two groups he considers urgently affected by the situation: students and workers. According to him, it is imperative that jointly developed proposals cater to these populations, who have been facing significant difficulties.

The President expressed his expectation that a consensus could be reached before the housing situation worsens. The unification of efforts is seen as essential for creating an environment where solutions can be discussed and implemented effectively.
Furthermore, the President emphasized that housing crises are not merely political issues, but have a direct impact on the daily lives of citizens. This perspective reinforces the urgent need for constructive dialogue and collaborative actions.
Seguro's call for fruitful understanding among parties highlights the seriousness of the housing situation in Portugal and the need for a coordinated and effective response, seeking solutions that bring relief to those most in need. The housing crisis remains a central concern on the country’s political agenda.
