Today, President António José Seguro received the ten parties represented in Parliament at Belém. The meetings aim to discuss issues related to social cohesion, a topic that includes the problem of housing.

The first party to be received was JPP, and the last will be PSD, with each meeting lasting approximately 30 minutes. During these discussions, the parties expressed the need for consensus on housing, highlighting the importance of finding viable solutions to current challenges.

Among the issues discussed, proposals such as increasing the deduction for housing expenses on IRS and utilizing state properties for rental emerged. These topics were identified as areas where there is greater scope for consensus, according to some of the parties present at the meetings.

However, disagreement over the rent law remains a sensitive point. Leftist parties such as BE and PCP are calling for more decisive action from the President, especially following recent protests related to housing that took place in Lisbon.

In response to these issues, President Seguro convened a Council of State meeting to discuss social cohesion, emphasizing his concern about the housing situation in the country. The parties are willing to engage in dialogue, and there has been an expressed openness from the right to collaborate with the PS government on this matter.

The meetings in Belém mark an important moment in the quest for solutions to the housing crisis, with the parties trying to find common ground amid the complexity of current social issues.
