Protesters camp in Lisbon and Porto for housing rights
Thousands of protesters set up camps in various Portuguese cities, with police interventions marking the night of protests.

On Saturday, thousands of housing rights protesters gathered at Rossio in Lisbon and Praça D. João I in Porto. The protests aim to draw attention to the housing crisis in Portugal and the need for concrete measures to ensure the right to housing.
The demonstrators decided to camp in both cities, resulting in significant mobilization at both locations. During the night, the Portuguese police intervened, claiming that the protesters were not adhering to orders to disperse.
Police action began at four in the morning, with officers charging at the protesters, resulting in several injuries and thirteen arrests across Lisbon and Porto.

Protesters in Porto claimed that plainclothes officers were identifying and detaining individuals, raising concerns among participants. According to the Acampada do Porto movement, these ununiformed officers were taking people to police stations, creating an atmosphere of tension.
On the other hand, the Public Security Police (PSP) did not confirm the presence of plainclothes officers, stating they were unaware of any incidents of that nature during the camp.
However, PSP representatives stated that the camping was continuing in an orderly manner and that they had no knowledge of any complaints regarding identifications by the officers.
