PS criticizes government for fuel tax increase

The socialists assert that the government is profiting from the new fuel tax increase, which affects citizens.

The Socialist Party (PS) accused the government of continuing to profit from fuel, in response to the recent hike in taxes on these products. The criticism comes at a time when the socialists are calling for a review of the rates that citizens must bear regarding fuel.

According to statements from the PS, since April 2024, Portuguese citizens have been paying an additional 9 cents per liter of diesel, exacerbating the tax burden on consumers. The tax increase has been widely contested by the party, which argues that this measure does not benefit the population.

The PS emphasizes that the government must consider the impact on citizens, especially in light of the already high fuel prices. The party's criticisms have been reiterated across various media outlets, where they express their stance on the current tax policy.
