Puno is experiencing a measles outbreak that has exceeded 1,100 cases since the beginning of 2026, according to information provided by the head of Epidemiology at the San Román Health Network, Miriam Rodríguez Oviedo, during a recent press conference. The official explained that most of the recent cases involve individuals who are unvaccinated against measles.

In the United States, the measles outbreak has also reached alarming figures, exceeding 2,500 cases and 38 outbreaks this year, marking the highest number in 35 years, according to reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
