On the night of August 20, Russian forces launched an attack on Kyiv using ballistic missiles, according to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitaly Klitschko. The incidents resulted in at least 13 deaths and over 40 injuries, as stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Some sources report that the toll may be higher, with reports indicating at least 15 dead and over 30 injured, while the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the attack targeted military facilities.
Following the attack, alert systems were activated in Poland and Romania, with air defense measures being put in place. Additionally, NATO Spanish fighter jets were dispatched to the area, confirming concerns regarding regional security.

According to statements from local officials, a children's hospital was reportedly hit during the bombardment. Russian forces continue to escalate attacks in the Kyiv region, heightening tensions in neighboring areas.
