Russian bombings in Kyiv result in at least 12 dead
At least 12 people have died and several others were injured in Russian bombings in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and its surrounding region overnight.

On the night of Thursday (20), Kyiv and the area around the Ukrainian capital experienced a massive missile attack by Russian forces, according to local authorities. The attacks resulted in at least 12 deaths and injured dozens of people, said Mayor Vitali Klitschko in recent statements.
Reports indicate that the bombings hit residential areas and medical facilities, including a children's hospital and educational institutions. Authorities did not specify the total extent of the damage to infrastructure, but it was confirmed that several residential buildings were destroyed.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched dozens of ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles during the offensive, along with 168 drones, highlighting the scale of the overnight attack.

Local sources reported an increase in the number of fatalities, with numbers being updated as new data emerges and emergency services work at the scene. Amid this situation, the community's distress has heightened with the rising death toll and injuries, leading to a climate of apprehension in the capital.
Different reports from international sources vary on the victim count. While some reports mention at least six dead, others raise that number to 13 or even 12, as new information becomes available throughout the early hours of Thursday.
The attacks are part of a series of bombings that Ukraine has faced following the Russian invasion, which has intensified in recent days. Authorities are urging the population to take precautions and follow safety guidelines amid this ongoing attack.
