Russian Finance Minister Siluanov is attending the G20 meeting in Asheville, North Carolina. The event is attended by finance ministers from the world's largest economies and addresses the state of the global economy. This gathering of finance ministers spans a period of two days.
This is the first time since an incident at a previous G20 finance ministers' meeting where a Russian representative spoke that a Russian minister is attending in person. The invitation from the USA has already caused a stir.
Federal Finance Minister Klingbeil has since criticized the hosting role of the USA. Whether Siluanov's presence holds any special significance is currently under discussion.
