The son of Valentino Mazzola, Sandro had an exceptional career, spending his entire professional career at Inter for 17 years. He made 565 appearances and scored 161 goals.
His trophy cabinet includes four Italian championship titles, two European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups. He also won the top scorer title in both Serie A in 1965 and the European Cup in 1964.

In 1971, Mazzola finished second in the Ballon d'Or, behind Johan Cruyff. His skill on the field made him one of the most revered players in the history of Italian football.
Inter expressed its condolences through an official note, emphasizing that Mazzola has written the club's history indelibly. Tributes have also poured in from the world of sports and institutions.
