Vice President Sara Duterte was scheduled to attend her arraignment on September 11 at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court regarding three counts of grave threats. However, her legal team secured a postponement of the proceedings, leading to uncertainty about the details of the motion filed with the court that prompted the delay.

Duterte's spokesperson, Paolo Panelo Jr., had indicated prior to the postponement that she would personally attend the arraignment. Despite this confirmation, the court later deferred the proceedings, and the nature of the motion filed by Duterte’s camp remains undisclosed.

Legal representatives for Duterte, including lawyer Paul Lawrence Lim, confirmed the deferment, citing sensitive matters. This lack of detailed information has raised questions within the legal and political communities.

In an earlier statement, Duterte expressed her intention to pursue all legal remedies in relation to the grave threats allegations against her. She has faced charges concerning alleged threats directed at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the First Lady, and the House Speaker.

Ahead of the scheduled arraignment, a gathering of supporters held a vigil outside the Quezon City venue, demonstrating solidarity with the Vice President as she faced legal challenges.

As the case develops, the Supreme Court will also be considering Duterte's urgent motion for a temporary restraining order related to the ongoing proceedings in the lower court. The outcome of this motion may have implications for the timing and nature of any future court appearances.
