The management of SATA has called on five bidders to submit binding proposals related to the privatization of Azores Airlines. Proposals must be submitted by December 9, on which date the candidate entities will be disclosed, according to information from the Azorean aviation group.

The five selected bidders had previously submitted non-binding proposals. The invitation to submit binding proposals represents an important step in the airline's privatization process.

SATA emphasized that the decision to keep the identities of the bidders confidential until the deadline is intended to protect the integrity of the candidates and increase the chances of successful negotiations.

The sale of at least 75% of the company is planned, coinciding with the need to find a suitable investor to strengthen the operation of Azores Airlines.

However, there have been reactions to the decision to keep the bidders anonymous. The PS/Açores has questioned the decision not to disclose the candidates, raising concerns about the transparency of the process.

Reports indicate that disclosing the bidders could cause harm, but no details have been provided on how this would occur. Several media outlets have discussed the impact that the lack of transparency could have on competition and the effectiveness of the privatization.
