In the night from Thursday to Friday, a serious accident occurred in the Seelisbergtunnel when a car collided with the tunnel infrastructure and caught fire. The driver died in the incident, and eight others were injured in a subsequent accident, leading to significant property damage.
As a result of the accident, the tunnel was initially closed, causing considerable traffic disruptions on the A2 motorway. The closure affected both directions and lasted until the afternoon when the passage was reopened.
