Haze conditions have worsened in Sarawak, with hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) levels reported in several areas. As of August 31, Serian recorded an API of 476, while Samarahan and Kuching also faced hazardous readings, with figures reaching 412 in Samarahan and corresponding levels in Kuching, according to local reports.

Previous data indicated that Serian's API had been registered as high as 436, reflecting a significant increase in air pollution. The deterioration in air quality has raised concerns among residents, particularly in the less favorable air quality zones.

In addition to Serian, Samarahan, and Kuching, other areas such as Sri Aman and Sarikei reported 'very unhealthy' air quality levels, highlighting the widespread impact of the haze throughout the region.
