Seven children from Flemish youth camp hospitalized after swimming incident in Ourthe
Seven children were hospitalized following a swimming event in the Ourthe, likely due to salmonella contamination.
In Vieuxville, located in the province of Liège, seven children were hospitalized on Thursday after a swimming event in the Ourthe. The children were part of a holiday camp organized by JOETZ of the Solidaris health insurance fund.
According to reports, the children exhibited signs of intoxication. It is believed that the pathogenic bacterium salmonella is responsible for their condition. This information has been confirmed by multiple news sources.
The children have since been discharged from the hospital, according to reports from HLN. However, it remains unclear how long their recovery will take.
In light of the incidents, a swimming ban in the Ourthe is currently being enforced to prevent further infections.
