As of today, August 10, severe traffic disruptions are expected on the E19 at Machelen. This is due to maintenance work on the connecting loop to the Brussels Ring Road, which is expected to last until September 26. The Agency for Roads and Traffic has announced that this work will significantly affect the traffic situation.

There are also traffic disruptions expected on the E19 near Rumst due to other ongoing works. Road users should anticipate delays on this route.

According to initial reports, there is currently exceptional congestion on the E19 towards Brussels, resulting in a traffic jam of about 30 minutes starting from Zemst. The road has been narrowed from two lanes to one due to the works.

Nevertheless, some reports have suggested that the anticipated major congestion has so far not materialized and that delays have thus far been limited to around ten minutes, according to the Agency for Roads and Traffic.

The Flanders Traffic Centre has indicated that the traffic situation around Antwerp is particularly busy ahead of the summer period, although this is not solely due to the works in Machelen. Major access roads and the Antwerp Ring are currently showing increased traffic pressure.

Traffic on the E19 may be further affected by weather conditions and other factors, but it remains unclear to what extent the works will have a lasting impact on the traffic situation in the coming days.
