On Tuesday, a technical issue with the UK air traffic control system led to the cancellation of over 1,000 flights at major airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick. Reports indicate that the glitch has had severe impacts on air travel across the UK, affecting not only London but also other airports in Manchester, Birmingham, and Scotland.

According to reports, the air traffic control provider NATS is under scrutiny following this disruption. Passengers faced significant delays and cancellations, with many journeys thrown into chaos.

Free Malaysia Today reported that nearly 1,100 flights were cancelled due to this issue, highlighting the widespread nature of the disruption across UK air traffic. Heathrow Airport confirmed it was among the airports impacted by the technical fault on Tuesday.

Al Jazeera noted a continuation of the disruptions, as hundreds of flights were delayed or cancelled. The technical issue originated from faults within the air traffic control system, causing ripple effects for passengers traveling within the UK and beyond.

As a result of the ongoing disruptions, it has been reported that 177 flights scheduled for Wednesday have already been cancelled, following the nearly 1,300 flights grounded on Tuesday. This raises concerns about further chaos for travelers in the coming days.

The incidents have prompted calls for a review of the air traffic control processes to prevent future occurrences. Passengers are advised to check for updates from their airlines as the situation develops, and to expect potential delays in the aftermath of this incident.
