Sistema Volta recovers 150 million containers since April

Since its implementation on April 10, the Deposit and Refund System (SDR) known as 'Volta' has already recovered more than 150 million containers, according to the latest official data. The aim of this system is to encourage recycling of beverage bottles and cans by offering a network of over 3,000 automatic return points.

The transition period, which allowed for the coexistence of containers with and without the Volta symbol until August 9, has come to an end. Starting from that date, all containers included in the system — including bottles and cans made of aluminum, metal, or plastic up to three liters — must be marked with the Volta symbol.

With the conclusion of this period, the system has advanced to a phase where the number of available machines has been increased, while the number of kiosks has been reduced, reflecting a new approach to recycling management.
