Sony and TSMC have announced a collaboration for the production of image sensors, with an estimated investment ranging from €4 billion to €6.4 billion. The joint venture will be established in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.
The new facility is expected to begin production of the sensors in 2029, according to reports. The partnership aims to increase the production capacity of essential components for the electronics and imaging markets.
