The southwest monsoon, known locally as 'habagat', is expected to bring rain to various regions in Luzon and parts of Western Visayas today. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), these rain showers may affect several areas throughout the day.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja from PAGASA noted that these rains are not as severe as those experienced in recent weeks, indicating a different intensity level. He provided this information during a weather advisory issued at 5 p.m.

Additionally, another PAGASA weather specialist, John Manalo, mentioned that the southwest monsoon will persist and may lead to further weather developments, including the possibility of a low-pressure area located 850 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The state weather bureau has urged residents in the affected areas to stay informed and prepare for potential rainfall. This ongoing weather pattern is part of the typical seasonal changes influenced by the southwest monsoon season in the Philippines.

Despite the anticipated rains, PAGASA clarified that they currently do not consider this weather episode as extreme. Updates will continue to be provided as the situation develops.
