An economic institute has examined the dependence of the eastern federal states on immigration in a recent study. The report points out that an increased return of Eastern Europeans to their home countries could lead to massive consequences.
In particular, it notes that this could significantly create gaps in the labor markets. Given the upcoming elections in eastern Germany and the political discussions around immigration, the issue of reliance on foreign workers remains in focus.
