Sweden thwarted a Russian intelligence operation
Swedish services announced they thwarted a planned espionage operation by Russian SVR aimed at discrediting Sweden, NATO, and the EU.
According to Swedish security services (Säpo), an intelligence operation was prepared and directed by the SVR, the Russian foreign intelligence service. This operation is said to have been in preparation for some time.
One of the objectives of this operation, according to Säpo's statement, was to undermine decision-making in Sweden and to discredit not only Sweden but also NATO and the European Union.
