Taiwan Reports Targeted by AI-Driven Cyberattacks Last Month

Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs reported that government agencies were targeted last month in a hacking campaign that utilized artificial intelligence. The ministry indicated that the cyberattacks displayed characteristics typical of an overseas source, suggesting they originated externally.

According to information released on August 13, the attacks combined manual operations with AI agent-assisted techniques. Cybersecurity monitoring units in Taiwan detected the unusual patterns of these attacks, describing them as 'abnormal'.

Despite the sophistication of the hacking methods employed, the affected government bodies successfully managed the incident and contained the threats posed by the attackers.
