The Taliban sent a delegation to Germany this week. According to information from NDR, this measure is intended to prepare for deportations to Afghanistan. The diplomats are expected to remain in the country for approximately three weeks.
According to reports from Tagesspiegel, the German government aims to increase returns to Afghanistan with this measure. A team from the Taliban government is therefore allowed to enter Germany as part of this initiative, which is supported by the black-red coalition.
The Federal Foreign Office justifies the decision to allow the delegation to enter. The aim is to optimize the processes surrounding deportations and to promote cooperation to enable a greater return of individuals to their home country.
