Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Requests Delimitation, NEET Review, and Substance Abuse Actions
During the Southern Zonal Council meeting, Tamil Nadu CM Vijay urged the Union government on several pertinent issues, including delimitation and substance abuse among youth.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay made three significant requests during the 31st meeting of the Southern Zonal Council, which was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. They included a discussion on delimitation, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and measures to combat substance abuse among the youth in the state.
Vijay, who also serves as the vice-chairman of the council, sought assurances from the Central government regarding parliamentary representation. He emphasized that states demonstrating successful population stabilization should not face penalties through a reduction in Lok Sabha seats. This issue has gained prominence as the freeze on the allocation of these seats based on the 1971 Census is nearing its end, according to sources.
The Chief Minister’s remarks have sparked a political controversy within Tamil Nadu. Opposition parties have noted a discrepancy between Vijay's statements and a resolution passed in the Assembly on August 12, which called for a permanent freeze on the 543 Lok Sabha seats.

Critics argue that his address diverged from the earlier consensus achieved in the Assembly, leading to accusations of a 'U-turn.' This reaction was highlighted in reports from various local media, illustrating the tensions between the ruling party and the opposition.
In addition to delimitation and NEET concerns, Vijay's request for a review of the legal framework to address youth substance abuse has been described as vital, reflecting the growing worries over the issue.
