Temperatures rising, peaks of up to 40 degrees forecasted
The heatwave affects 19 cities, with relief expected after August 17 due to potential thunderstorms.

Temperatures are on the rise, with peaks forecasted to reach 40 degrees Celsius in various regions of Italy. Currently, 19 cities are marked with a red alert, indicating extreme heat conditions. At the same time, some rivers and streams are drying up, causing damage to the Mediterranean vegetation, also exacerbated by wildfires.
According to forecasts, relief is expected after August 17 with thunderstorms likely to affect mainly the Alps and Apennines. With Brescia added, the number of cities under red alert will rise to 20 tomorrow.
