Terrorism alert in Ceuta, border controls extended until August 15

The risk of terrorism associated with the migration crisis in Ceuta has been reported in a dossier by Italian intelligence. The report, which is currently on the government's desk, highlights potential jihadist infiltration among migrants attempting to cross the border, according to ANSA and Rai News.

In Ceuta, border controls are being intensified, with Madrid announcing that these measures will remain in place until September 7. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that the danger should not be underestimated and confirmed that the suspension of the Schengen Agreement will remain effective until August 15.

In recent weeks, Spanish media have highlighted the circulation of information on social media instructing migrants on how to reach Ceuta, suggesting an organized effort behind the influx.

According to intelligence sources, there are fears that up to 50,000 migrants could attempt to enter Ceuta within a 48-hour period, which could lead to a new crisis. There are discussions of a possible 'coordinated blitz'.

In Germany, the government is tightening deportation measures and has initiated the process to restore transfers of asylum seekers to Italy and Greece, a maneuver falling under the new European Union Pact.

Tajani has also emphasized that once the situation stabilizes, there will be a possibility to return to normal control measures, but for now, it is necessary to maintain precautionary measures.
