The visit of the Kings of Spain to Ceuta and Melilla is scheduled for October 13 and 14. This will be the first time that a head of state visits these autonomous cities since 2007. The Royal House has confirmed the details of the trip, which will be coordinated jointly with the Government.

According to various sources, the decision regarding the dates was reached in an effort to have the trip after October 12, when Spain's National Day is celebrated. This journey has been viewed as anticipated, given the considerable time that has passed since the last royal visit to these locations.

It is expected that the agenda of activities for King Felipe and Queen Letizia during their stay will be published in the coming days. So far, specific details about what their program in Ceuta and Melilla will encompass have not been revealed.

The trip occurs in a sensitive context, as only three months have passed since the immigration crisis that took place in the region, a factor that the Government has considered when planning this visit.

Since ascening to the throne, Felipe VI has not been able to visit these cities, adding special symbolism to this trip. The visit is part of an effort to strengthen the royal presence and connection with the autonomous communities.

Experts have noted that the visit of the Kings to Ceuta and Melilla could generate tensions with Morocco, although no further details have been provided on how this issue will be addressed during the visit.
