The Rodina Party Files Lawsuit Against Yabloko in Supreme Court

The pro-Russian party Rodina has filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to annul the registration of the Yabloko party for the upcoming State Duma elections. This was reported by the news agency TASS, citing party chairman Alexey Zhuravlev.

Zhuravlev stated that Yabloko, in his view, does not comply with the applicable laws, particularly regarding electoral laws and advertising regulations. He further explained that numerous violations were identified, including those related to the party's financing.

The Supreme Court confirmed the receipt of the lawsuit, which will be handled by Judge Vyacheslav Kirillov. Kirillov is known for having acted in politically sensitive cases, such as those leading to the classification of the International Memorial as an extremist organization.

Zhuravlev also highlighted the massive violations by Yabloko, describing them as unexpected and serious. His statement emphasized that hardly any of the applicable laws were being followed, providing grounds for the lawsuit.

Judge Kirillov has been criticized not only for his rulings on extremism legislation but also for dismissing lawsuits filed by opposition groups, including one by Alexey Navalny against the prison administration.

The further development of this lawsuit remains to be seen, as it represents another chapter in the already tense political situation in Russia. As of now, nothing is known about the outcome of the lawsuit since the trial has not yet commenced.
