Tiger mosquito reported this season in eleven Belgian municipalities
Since the beginning of May, citizens have reported the tiger mosquito in eleven municipalities. Sciensano and ITG announced this on the occasion of World Mosquito Day.

Since the beginning of May, reports of the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) have been received from eleven Belgian municipalities. This number has been reported by Sciensano and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITG).
The collected data indicate that the tiger mosquito has been observed in various Flemish municipalities. These include Wijnegem, Rotselaar, Kraainem, Kuurne, and Aywaille, where the reports have been registered for the first time.

This information has been announced on the occasion of World Mosquito Day, an event that raises awareness about the impact of mosquitoes on public health.
Sciensano and ITG remain vigilant regarding the spread of the tiger mosquito and the potential consequences for public health.
