On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will occur, visible from several municipalities in the Community of Madrid. This event is significant as it will be the first total solar eclipse observable from the Iberian Peninsula in over a century.

According to reports, the municipality of Somosierra stands out as the best spot in the region to witness the phenomenon, while in the capital, Madrid, the eclipse will only be seen partially. Approximately 40 towns have been identified where residents will experience darkness during the eclipse.
