President Donald Trump stated that the United States is considering joining airstrikes against the Houthi militia in Yemen. This comes in the wake of a series of attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which have reportedly resulted in the deaths of twelve individuals and have injured over 300 more, according to Saudi authorities.

The recent violence includes four attacks on Riyadh airport within just one week, which has prompted the U.S. to reassess its involvement in the region. Trump mentioned to reporters at the White House that decisions on military action would be made rapidly as new information emerges about the situation.

The Houthi militia, believed to have backing from Iran, has been increasingly targeting Saudi infrastructure, including airports and military sites. This escalation follows a major offensive launched by a Saudi-led coalition against the Houthis, which has intensified the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

Reports indicate that Houthi-aligned media have also confirmed airstrikes on territories held by Houthis, including Sanaa international airport. The conflict continues to cause significant civilian casualties and suffering in affected regions, with implications for international air travel.

In response to the escalating attacks, Houthi officials have warned against travel to Saudi airports, with exceptions for the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Their statements included threats of further strikes, highlighting the tense atmosphere as the situation develops.

Analysts suggest that any U.S. military involvement could stretch existing resources already engaged in efforts to counter Iranian influence in the region, adding another layer of complexity to the already volatile conflict. The situation calls for careful consideration as U.S. officials weigh potential military options.
