The United States Army attacked military targets in Iran again on Sunday evening. According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks were aimed at two rocket launch installations on the Iranian island of Larak. These strikes are the first of their kind since late July and were carried out to reduce the threat posed by mine-laying units of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.

The attacks were supported by reports that the Revolutionary Guards were preparing to launch rockets equipped with sea mines. It was found that the activities of Iranian troops near the strategic waterway posed an immediate threat.

Iranian state media reported that following the attacks, several individuals, including soldiers and civilians, were killed or injured. In response, the Iranian military stated that it had immediately launched retaliatory strikes against two U.S. military bases in Jordan. These reactions were described as a direct response to the U.S. operations in Larak.

The U.S. military referred to the actions as "limited, targeted measures" and emphasized that the mission aimed to defend its troops in the region. The Iranian attacks on U.S. targets in Jordan were declared an act of aggression, further escalating tensions in the area.

Reports on these conflicts have come from various international news sources, including Axios, which provided the first information about the U.S. operations. The developments are part of a long-standing conflict between the two countries, marked repeatedly by military confrontations.

The situation in the region, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, remains tense. This waterway is of significant importance for international trade and plays a central role in the geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
