According to Insee, the unemployment rate in France rose by 0.2 percentage points in the second quarter of 2023, reaching 8.3%. This level is the highest observed since the autumn of 2020.

This rise in the unemployment rate marks the sixth consecutive quarter of increases, impacted by the lingering effects of the Covid-19 crisis, according to reports.

Currently, around 2.7 million people are actively seeking employment in the country, reflecting the difficulties faced in the job market.
